Pasta. Loved the world over, and generally made from bread flour and water. But why so many shapes? To simplify they have already been grouped into:

  • Short Pasta: Campanelle, Casarecce, Cavatappi, Conchiglie, Ditalini, Farfalle, Fusilli, Gemelli, Orecchiette, Orzo, Penne, Radiatori, Rigatoni, Rotelli, Rotini, Macaroni (Elbows), Ziti.
  • Long Pasta: Angel hair, Bucatini, Fettuccine, Linguine, Pappardelle, Spaghetti, Tagliatelle and Vermicelle.
  • Sheet Pasta: Lasagne.
  • Stuffed Pasta: Tortellini, Ravioli, Manicotti, Cannelloni, Jumbo Shells, Mezzelune.
  • Dumpling Pasta: Gnocchi....

I never knew there were so many types of pasta.
